The Wayland Fire Department requests prayers from the community for Fire Chief Jim Stoddard. On 04/26/2024, Chief Stoddard had a cardiac emergency and is currently in the critical care unit at Butterworth Hospital.

Cemeteries and Space Purchase Information
 
There are four cemeteries in Yankee Springs Township: Coman, Robbins, Bowerman (aka: Bowens Mill) and Yankee Springs Cemetery
 
Coman Cemetery is located on Shaw Lake Road between Briggs Rd and Norris Rd. The oldest burial date was recorded on April 20, 1843
 
Robbins Cemetery is located in section 19 on Chief Noonday Road (M-137) approximately ¼ mile East of Patterson. The oldest burial was recorded on March 28, 1822 (map to cemetery)
 
Bowerman Cemetery is located on Bowens Mill Rd, East of Norris Road.   The oldest burial was recorded on November 11, 1840 (map to cemetery) This cemetery is not available for additional use.
 
Yankee Springs Cemetery is located one (1) mile South West of Yankee Springs Church on Duffy Road, just behind the Yankee Springs Church. North of Shaw Lake Road and West of Co. Rd 11. The oldest burial was recorded March 16, 1861. (map to cemetery)
 
Cost per space for all Yankee Springs Township residents is $50.00. There is a limit of 4 spaces per family. Additional spaces may be approved by the township board if a written request is made.
Cost per space for Non Residents is $300.00
