Absent Voter (AV) ballots for the November 5, 2024 General election are now available at the township office. Early Voting for the November 5, 2024 election will be October 26, 2024 through November 3, 2024. 8 AM - 4 PM daily Winter tax bills will be mailed early December A survey is available for Yankee Springs Township residents to provide input for use in developement of the Township Master Plan. Emergency Services

The Yankee Springs Township Fire Station is located at 1425 South Payne Lake Road, Wayland, MI. (The Northeast Corner of M-179 and Payne Lake Road). The property and equipment is owned by the Township of Yankee Springs and is operated under contract through the Wayland Fire Department.

Emergency Apparatus includes a 2003 Freightliner 1,500 gpm Pumper, a 2003 Freightliner 500 gpm Pumper/Water Tender (carries 3,300 gal. of water), a 2003 Ford Brush/Grass 4 wheel Truck, a Rescue One Fire/Water Rescue Boat, and a 2/4 wheel drive UTV Rescue Vehicle.  Recently added were 2 2/4 wheel drive Jeeps which were obtained through the DNR Cooperative Mutual Aid.

Recently purchased additional equipment include a LUCAS instrument (an aid in a Cardiac Arrest Situation), and battery operated Jaws of Life, Cutters, and Ram.  Two new Ice Rescue Suits were also purchased.

The Yankee Springs Township Fire Station, through contract, is under the Command of Fire Chief Jim Stoddard (of the Wayland Fire Department) with the daily operations over seen by Deputy Fire Chief Dan Miller (of the Wayland Fire Department). 

Firefighters are trained to respond to various types of calls including, but not limited to, Structure Fires, Brush/Grass Fires, Vehicle Fires, Fire Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Vehicle Crashes, etc..

The Yankee Springs Township Residents are served by Paid On Call Firefighters and/or Medical First Responders. Paid On Call Firefighters and/or Medical First Responders are actively being sought to respond to emergencies and calls for service. The Fire Department has a very strong Fire Prevention Program and uses the Scotty the Fire Safety House to teach children Fire Safety.
